The Moto Guzzi of the Future

I have visited many of the world’s leading companies – aeronautical, automotive, shipping, design, packaging and robotics – but never before have I been to one located in such a spectacular setting where, between the lake and the mountains, centuries-year-old buildings are brimming with the latest technology.”

– Greg Lynn

His words refer to a unique, futuristic project that will transform the historic Moto Guzzi site, not only with new production lines and office, but a series of extraordinary events zones. Designed to delight and entertain visitors, the site will also encompass a new, enlarged area dedicated to celebrating and preserving the renowned Moto Guzzi history. Alongside the expanded production capacity will be a totally new plant at Mandello, which has for so many decades been the focal point for the passion that unites Guzzi fans from all over the world and which is sure to continue to set the global motorcycle benchmark.

The new Moto Guzzi project draws upon the spirit of innovation that is part of the brand’s DNA and looks far into the future with new cutting-edge production lines for engines and motorbikes. Age-old buildings will be repurposed and used in new ways including laboratories, testing and restoration. More recent structures are currently being redesigned to accommodate visitors, allowing them to look behind the scenes and witness the development and production of the next generations of two-wheeled wonders destined to become future milestones in the Guzzi story.

GREG LYNN

Growing up outside of Cleveland, Ohio, renowned American architect Greg Lynn spent most of his time on a farm and by a lake, riding slow vehicles as fast as he could; from tractors, to motocross bikes, to dinghies, keelboats and powerboats. These were great pastimes for a speed lover, but none of these activities could begin to compare to the thrill of designing a Moto Guzzi factory and museum on Lake Como.

In addition to buildings, he also designs industrial products for Alessi, Vitra, Swarovski and Nike, and robots for Piaggio Fast Forward. His home in Boston is located just 100 metres from the robot assembly factory, while when at his Los Angeles home, he sails his foiling trimaran and rides his Moto Guzzi Audace along the coast.
